The Sri Sathya Sai Saraswathi Education Trust is a public charitable trust set up in 2011 aiming to offer education that focuses on academic as well as human excellence. Our pedagogy is as modern and pragmatic in its approach as it is steeped in the traditional and timeless essence of Indian culture and human values.
Vision: To impart values-based universal education to all children, at absolutely no cost to them, and help grow them into mature adults with brilliant intellect, compassionate heart and competent hands.
Mission: To establish top-quality educational institutions, prepare outstanding educators, and produce world citizens, who inspire and lead by example.
We believe that good and quality education is a basic human right. Our schools therefore bridge the
opportunity gap between a city and village school, providing equitable opportunities to students in rural
Karnataka to educate themselves and become meaningful contributors to the nation’s progress.
Our education is about transformation and not just information. Students are exposed to the values-based integrated approach of learning well beyond their classrooms. Be it in the hostel, playgrounds and dining rooms, or prayer halls, through group activities, opportunities to learn and lead, the students get many opportunities to discover their true potential. Our students, as a result, are highly creative and equally engaged in their own education.
Even as we ready our students to become financially secure, to hit the ground running when they leave our institutions, we do it without compromising on their emotional, mental and spiritual needs and development. The all-round development of each student remains our primary focus.
The day’s schedule of our students is charted meticulously, giving them exposure to not just academics but arts, crafts, sports and culture too.
Sports & Recreation: Our campuses offer facilities for basketball, football volleyball, badminton, cricket, athletics martial arts and a range of indoor games. Students compete and demonstrate their skills in the true spirit of sportsmanship. Physical fitness, sports and games improve their decision making, concentration discrimination and confidence.
Music, Cultural and Human Values Education: Art and culture is a big draw in all our campuses. Our students are trained in classical dance forms such as Bharatanatayam, as well as carnatic music, Indian and Western instruments. Vedas, slokas and yoga are taught to inculcate the students with the essence of the Indian culture. Stories from Ramayana and Mahabharata and other such epics, human values classes, group prayers, bhajans, stories and parables from different religions are integrated into the daily lessons and life to help foster character development and spiritual transformation.
Community Service: The students are encouraged to take up any of the many campus activities of their choice and run the programme all by themselves. From food serving to maintaining the gardens to running the hostel stores, the students are encouraged to learn and lead on the job. Able, intelligent and compassionate individuals leave our campuses with a desire to serve society and make a difference.
We believe education is a service, not a commodity one can affix a value to. In keeping with this belief education at our schools is imparted completely free of cost to all our students. And the collateral? Our students grow up to be givers as much as they turn out as achievers, supporting the system and communities they gained much from.
As Mahatma Gandhi said “India lives in villages”. Over the years India’s urban rural divide has widened.
In rural India lack of schools, shortage of teachers and poverty discourage and prevent bright students
from getting a formal education. This results in a serious loss to an individual’s development, to his/her
community and to the society as a whole. We believe there is greatness in everyone that must be
unleashed for the greater good of the individuals, communities, our nation and our world.
For the students in rural communities we represent hope, freedom, change, opportunities and sustainability. Based on the ideals instilled in us by Sathya Sai Baba, all our institutions provide completely free education. All our activities carry a message of empowerment and personal responsibility, for ourselves, our communities and to our world. This is an investment and not a cost. The cost is not investing in our rural communities.
